My Summer Shoes
Here we are in the Summer of 2017. I have several well worn pairs of shoes that are falling apart at the seams and one even has a broken sole!
I ponder the options as I wear my scuffed and scraped up shoes. Shall I buy a new pair on Amazon? It is good to support local businesses. Maybe I should buy a pair of lovelies from Sole Desire on First Street. Hmmm...Larks has great well made comfortable and cute shoes.
Meanwhile, I continue wearing my old shoes. Every day I remember that millions and millions of people do not have an option of buying shoes.
This blog began as I was painting a number of shoe paintings and found out about Soles 4 Souls. Over the course of time, sales of paintings raised over $1000. to buy and deliver shoes to those souls in need. What a joy.
I want to once again increase my giving to help deliver shoes to those in need.

NEW Year
Well, it's 2012. New inspirations abound. It has felt like Spring time so far this Winter! In November and December we gave three donations for a total of $70. With new shows this year and much new work, it is an exciting time!
One friend asked me if she could donate gently used shoes. I am now gathering gently used shoes! Richmond is the closest drop off point for Soles4Souls. The Napa Running Store will hopefully collect many shoes from runners who frequent their store!

Well, we have had some shoes walking into new homes! In September 2010, we gave a $50. donation to Soles 4 Souls. In February of 2011 we gave two donations of $30. Those were from sales of modified and painted purses.
In May of 2011 I started showing the shoes again at the Gallery and doing shows. I was able to send a $100. donation to Soles 4 Souls after doing a show at Joseph Phelps Winery for their Club Members.
So we are at $910.
